About Us

Dr. Paula Maness, Psy.D. — Founder, Legacy Works

About us

Legacy Works was created to help clinicians plan responsibly for the continuity of their practice if something unexpected affects their ability to work.

The idea for Legacy Works grew from a practical problem. Many existing continuity planning or succession services are designed for large practices or institutions and are often financially out of reach for independent clinicians or small practices.

Yet the ethical responsibility to protect clients and ensure continuity of care still exists.

Legacy Works was designed to address that gap by providing a structured, responsible approach to continuity planning that individual clinicians and small practices can realistically access.

Clinicians spend years helping others navigate difficult circumstances, but many practices operate without a clear plan for what happens if the clinician suddenly becomes unavailable.

Without preparation, families and colleagues may be left trying to interpret professional responsibilities they were never trained to manage.

Legacy Works helps clinicians prepare for that possibility in advance so that the burden does not fall on others during moments of crisis.

The goal is simple: reduce confusion, protect clients, and prevent unnecessary stress for families and colleagues.

What We Do

Legacy Works provides continuity planning for clinicians.

We help you: - Create a Continuity Plan tailored to your practice - Prepare a Professional Will & Practice Continuity Directive - Decide who should handle practice-related tasks if you are unable to - Document clear instructions without sharing passwords or credentials - Support compliance while protecting clients

This is not therapy and not legal advice. It is practical planning designed for real clinical work

Who This Is For

Legacy Works works with individual clinicians, including counselors, therapists, psychologists, and social workers.

This includes clinicians who: - Work independently or within group practices - Carry personal responsibility for client care, records, and systems - Serve clients who may be impacted by sudden interruption of care - Want clarity instead of leaving things to chance

Even in group practices, continuity planning is often an individual responsibility.

How It Works

  • 1. Choose how you want to start
  • 2. Answer guided questions at your own pace
  • 3. Build a plan that fits your work and values
  • 4. Finalize your Continuity Agreement
  • 5. Update it as your practice evolves
