About

GJ id DJ’s (my) music had been quietly growing in the background for decades, buried beneath my demanding indirect anti-viral research career in cancer. Despite my dedication, scientific, and real-world discoveries, both academic, and industry sides shut-their doors to me. While I want to get back to anti-viral research, I switch gears with music to quench my passion in music.

Thanks to my dad who gave good sense of music by inspiring me with key board. My brother first introduced me to the awesome music of Guns n’ Roses.

In the 2000s, I began exploring the acoustic guitar. However, playing solo without other instruments or a team soon proved to be a major challenge. This made me to put music aside, and focus on cancer research.

In the 2010s, my curiosity shifted to the cello. Thanks to my colleagues at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Mai Tran and Dr. Russel Braeuer, who took me to a live concert where, for the first time, I experienced the mesmerizing live music from cello, in person.

Here I am starting a part-time career in music.

To my listeners: Thank you for listening to my music, supporting my work, and helping make my research dreams possible for the future.

With gratitude,
Goodwin G. Jinesh (GJ is DJ)
