Grand Master Michael D. Park of TeXas, Sucessor to James Kaleohano Roberts of Hawaii
Aloha y’all, I’m Michael D. Park from Texas. My first teacher, SGM James Kaleohano Roberts Sr., of Hawaii commissioned me in 2022 as his Kajukenbo Successor and Chief of the Kaleohano Lineage™ named in his honor. Later that year in Las Vegas I was also recognized as a Grand Master by the board of advisors for Sijo Emperado’s Kajukenbo Self-Defense Institute Inc. of Hawaii and Worldwide. My Dad was a Lt. Colonel in the Army and I attended 17 schools in 9 states. I began training in 1963; however, my black belt promotion was delayed during the Vietnam War-era until 1969 when I was tested while on leave from the Army before being deployed to the so called “Cold War” in West Germany as a staff sergeant E-6 main battle tank commander and acting platoon leader (five Tanks). I a l s o graduated from the Military Intelligence School for Officers and C I Agents.
I left the Army to became a Washington DC Metropolitan Police Special Ops./SWAT Officer and a member of an elite felony warrant squad. Those duties and publicity for making the most arrests led to being recruited by the US Marshals and assigned to my home town of Dallas and the 100 counties of North Texas as a Fugitive Investigations Supervisor and later as an “Inspector” in a classified agency within an agency. You can download my BIO “FIRST LAWMEN” if interested.
I opened the first martial art school in Plano, Texas, in 1974 co-affiliated with 6Chuck Norris who I first met in 1968 at a seminar in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was certified as an instructor in Tang Soo Do by his teacher, Grand Master Jae Chul Shin, and promoted to 4th degree #16326 by Hyun Chul Hwang, the Korea Moo Duk Kwan founder’s son. I also have a 5 th degree in Pre-Olympic Korea “Tae Kwon Do” #28033 from Ye Mo Ahn and Soo Woong Lee, respectively. Over the decades I earned a 9 th degree in the Kenpo International Yudanshakai and five years later inducted in the Kenpo International Hall of Fame along with several of my Kajukenbo peers. I was promoted to 10th degree Judan as an associate of the Tracy Organization. I earned a 4 th degree in Police Aikido from Bill Sosa in Dallas plus a 2 nd degree in Korea Kuk Sool Won from Jay Lee of Houston.
My Kajukenbo students and affiliate schools benefit from this forced diverse experience in other martial art systems. I still teach an all-adult Kajukenbo black belt class and the Sub 1-Second Close Quarters Fighting Seminar. ® A self-defense clinic where SURVIVORS know more than You!
